    Not safe for tiny children as first helmet

    I bought this for my 14 month old and it certainly IS cute. However, the problem we found with it is that the horizontal design of this helmet is quite "flat" and doesn't come down much to cover the back of the head. In fact, there is an "upward bite" removed at the back of this helmet that exposes more of the back of the head than if it were straight along the back.What we found is, because it our child's first helmet, they keep trying to push it off. With so much back of the head exposed it means that they push up at the front to get it off and the whole thing slips back ... and off.This leaves just the strap strangling the throat and jugular. Not safe for tiny children. If this happened while out riding it is potentially dangerous.Having said that, if your child is happy to wear helmets and comfortable doing so, then this is cute and solid.In our case, I am having to buy another helmet to begin with that comes further down behind the head to protect more of the back of the head (I have now ordered an AWEA Cool Vents). Hopefully it won't be able to be pushed up and behind the head in the same way.

    We were after our daughter's first bike helmet that was cute and would encourage her to wear it. This certainly looks great, is adjustable to fit (she is a small 4 four year old) - and think this will be good for several years.She loves it to bits.Can't really go wrong with a funky pink helmet after all.Prompt delivery too - thanks.
